You will also have the privilege of deepening your knowledge of the objectivist philosophy of Ayn Rand, one of the greatest pro-freedom intellectuals of the 20th century. Based on rational philosophy and objectivism, you will have practical tools for your personal and professional development.

What you can expect from the Prometheus Fellowship Program:

Through the Prometheus Fellowship Program, SFL will invest over $42,347 in each selected fellow;

A stipend of $500 per semester, over three years, for your professional development;

Fully paid face-to-face training each semester: without paying anything, you will travel to different places and network with great leaders, mentors, and students from all over the world;

15 to 20 online meetings per semester: you can attend live or watch recordings later, flexibly and at your own pace;

Individualized career mentoring with a reference in the area you want to work in: you will receive a personalized orientation to facilitate your choice and approval in graduate courses and your first job;

Alexander McCobin

Alexander McCobin is co-founder and former president of Students For Liberty. Under his leadership, Students For Liberty grew into the largest libertarian student organization in the world with over 1,574 leaders trained in the 2015-16 school year and 1,916 active student groups. Previously, he worked for the Cato Institute on student programs. McCobin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and economics and earned a master’s degree in philosophy from Georgetown University. He was the former CEO of Conscious Capitalism, Inc. and led the founding and expansion of the organization’s first headquarters in San Francisco. Alexander also serves on the Board of Advisors of Students For Liberty, the Atlas Society and is an honorary board member of the Our America Initiative.

Miroslav Polach

Miroslav Polach is a Lead Consultant at Novartis, a company whose purpose is to reimagine medicine to improve and extend people’s lives. 

We use innovative science and technology to address some of society’s most challenging healthcare issues. We discover and develop breakthrough treatments and find new ways to deliver them to as many people as possible. We also aim to reward those who invest their money, time and ideas in our company.

Yael Ossowski

Yael Ossowski is a consumer and technology advocate, writer, syndicated radio host, podcaster, and sometimes digital entrepreneur based between Vienna, Austria and North Carolina. He is the Deputy Director at the Consumer Choice Center, and a contributor to newspapers, magazines, and online outlets on issues of technological innovation, lifestyle freedom, and smart policy. He co-hosts the internationally syndicated Consumer Choice Radio on Big Talker Network out of Wilmington, N.C and Sauga 960AM in Toronto, Canada, every Saturday at 1 PM EST. He is an advocate of Podcasting 2.0 and the free speech Podcast Index. Previously, I was an investigative reporter at Watchdog.org, serving as Florida Bureau Chief and chief Spanish translator. From 2013-2020, He worked as a grassroots organizer and fundraiser for SFL, primarily in Europe and the United States, but also on 3 other continents.

Dr. Vera Kichanova

Dr. Vera Kichanova is an urban economist exploring and shaping the future of private governance. She works as Senior Economist at the Free Cities Foundation and urban policy advisor at Zaha Hadid Architects. Her PhD thesis explores the future of private urban development — from charter cities in emerging economies to start-up nations in neutral waters. Vera’s career has spanned roles including elected Municipal Councillor in Moscow, Editor-in-Chief at the Atlas Network-affiliated publication in Kyiv, and President of the Oxford Hayek Society.

Vera’s works — focused on bridging the gap between urban planning theory and classical liberal thought — were published by New York Times, Forbes, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The Telegraph, among others. She is a Frédéric Bastiat Fellow at the Mercatus Center (US), a contributor to the Adam Smith Institute (UK) and a Mont Pèlerin Society member. She holds a PhD in Political Economy from King’s College London, a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Oxford and a BA in Journalism from Moscow State University.

Sloane Frost

Sloane graduated from Cornell University in 2008 with a degree in Policy Analysis & Management and concentration in Health Policy. While studying the economics and history of health policy in this country, Sloane became interested in the principles of liberty and individual responsibility that seem to be missing from modern policy initiatives. After serving with City Year, an AmeriCorps program, Sloane saw firsthand the negative consequences of an intrusive government public education system. She returned to academia to earn a Masters in Public Policy and certificate in Health Administration and Policy at the University of Chicago in June 2011. Various experiences in the university setting quickly taught Sloane that her fellow students are also deprived of many freedoms on campus, and she became dedicated to the student fight for liberty. In 2007, Sloane co-founded Students For Liberty and now serves as the Chairwoman of the SFL Board of Directors. Sloane is currently a Senior Consultant for Strategic Solutions at Navigant Management Consulting. Before that, she worked as a research analyst at Mathematica Policy and interned at the Cato Institute.

Theodore Dalrymple

Theodore Dalrymple is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor of City Journal. He is a retired physician who, most recently, practiced in a British inner-city hospital and prison. Denis Dutton, editor of Arts & Letters Daily, called Dalrymple the “Orwell of our time.”

Frans Cronje

Frans Cronje is an independent political and economic analyst and advisor with 20 years of experience and a track record of working with hundreds of firms and institutions. He has lived and worked in both the USA and South Africa. For almost two decades he worked for Africa’s oldest research and policy think-tank, Institute of Race Relations where he established its risk advisory consultancy. He has drafted and/or edited hundreds of notes, reports, and analyses on subjects ranging from public opinion polling to education trends, electricity supply prognoses, growth forecasts, currency estimates, protest trends, security risks, China and Russia in Africa, global trade wars, Brexit predictions, US presidential elections, and global financial reversals.

Michael Landl

Michael Landl is the Director of the World Vapers’ Alliance. He is an experienced policy professional and a passionate vaper. Michael studied at the University of St. Gallen International Affairs and worked for several public policy outlets and in the German Parliament.

Priyank D'Sa

Priyank D’Sa is the Manager of Digital Media, Office of the Leader of the Official Opposition, Parliament of Canada. He has over four years of experience in all aspects of Politics and Advocacy. 

Angelina Radovic

Angelina is currently pursuing a career in Strategic Financial Communications at a Madrid-based consultancy, where she’s had the opportunity to work for various private equity and venture funds, a global investment bank, as well as communicate deals and results for both listed and private companies. Previously, experience in nonprofit organizations such as Students For Liberty and Ayn Rand Center Europe, with focus on project and event management. Master’s degree in International Business Administration, and a background in International Relations and Global Politics. Besides her native Serbian, she’s proficient in English and Spanish.

Reema Jedaja-Reed, FRSA

Reema Jadeja-Reed, FRSA is a fellow at the University College London’s Institute for Strategy, Resilience, and Security, a founding team member and executive producer at Sofar Sounds, and a co-founder and deputy director of The Pericles Foundation. She is a fellow at the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce and a life member of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage. She has been a journalist at Rolling Stone Magazine and editor and producer at the MOBO Awards.

Stephen Kent

Stephen Kent is the author of How The Force Can Fix The World: Lessons on Life, Liberty and Happiness from a Galaxy Far, Far Away, a groundbreaking book about the power of the Star Wars story and the real impact its universalist message can have on political polarization. From his podcast, Beltway Banthas, which features political figures, TV news personalities and journalists talking all things Star Wars & politics, to hosting Right Now with Stephen Kent and guesting across TV news as a commentator, Stephen Kent is a leader in the media & PR world, helping prepare clients, business leaders and advocates for public speaking, presentations and media appearances. He served for 4 years as a spokesperson for Young Voices, a libertarian media organization with close ties to Students For Liberty.

Stephen Rowe

Stephen Rowe is the Director of Digital Training at Leadership Institute where he trains thousands of people on digital and political technology every year. Stephen has trained more than 18,000 activists and has been listed on multiple 30 under 30 awards. His work has been featured on Fox News, Fox Business, The Daily Caller, The Washington Times & many more national outlets. Stephen grew up in Montana, the “Treasure State”.

Pavol Fukatsch

Pavol Fukatsch graduated from BISLA in 2017. During his studies, he founded Slovak Students for Liberty, participated in several debating tournaments, completed a number of internships and Erasmus in Tilburg, Netherlands. He went on to study International Relations at Charles University in Prague and became the regional coordinator for Central Europe for SFL. He also spent a semester at prestigious Sciences Po in Paris. He worked at the Czech Ministry of Interior at the eGovernment section, followed by a stint at the Speyside Group as a public policy consultant on cyber, digital technologies and sustainability in the EU/CZ/SK. He is currently working at the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic as the chief data public policy advisor, covering forums of the EU Council, OECD, ITU or TTC.

Israr Hasan

Israr Hasan is a Senior Research Assistant with a Major in Economics with a minor in Anthropology. With particular interests in Bangladesh and South Asia’s trade, economy, public policy and development. Equipped with required skills working on research projects, knowledge management, programs and project management, communications and social media.

Aaron Rhodes

Aaron Rhodes is a Senior Fellow in the Common Sense Society, and President of the Forum for Religious Freedom-Europe.  He was Executive Director of the International Helsinki Federation for Human  Rights 1993-2007, and a co-founder of the Freedom Rights Project, a think tank, as well as the International  Campaign for Human Rights in Iran.  He is the author of The Debasement of Human  Rights (Encounter Books 2018), as well as numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and editorials.  Rhodes was educated at Reed College (Oregon) and in the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago, where he was awarded a Ph.D.  Among other honors, he was made an honorary citizen of the Republic of Austria in recognition of his contributions to human rights defense.

Liya Palagashvili

Liya Palagashvili is a Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Her primary research interests include the gig economy and broader independent workforce, entrepreneurship, and regulation. She has published academic articles, book chapters, policy papers, and articles in media outlets such as the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. In 2016, she was named one of the Forbes’ “30 under 30” in Law & Policy. Palagashvili was an Assistant Professor of Economics at State University of New York-Purchase and earned her Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University.

Mikolaj Pisarski

Mikolaj Pisarski is president of the Mises Institute of Economic Education, an independent research organization dedicated to promoting Austrian School of Economics within Polish society. He was responsible for developing “Economic Lessons for the Youth” project, working with thousands of young people in Poland acquainting them with principles of Austrian Economics.

Anar Alizamanli

Anar Alizamanli is an International Lawyer at Turan Legal & Tax Services, a legal firm that contributes to the growth of clients through quality services, detail-oriented teamwork and digitalization. He’s also the Country Manager at EtikImza, a company that offers a digitalized solution for the document signing and confirmation process.

Olayinka Azeez

Olayinka Azeez is a Frankfurt-based accomplished Product and Project Manager with over nine years of experience delivering user-focused products and projects in Finance, IT and Agriculture industries. He has a global MBA from Georgia Southwestern State University, USA; MSc from the University of Göttingen, Germany as well as gold standard agile and project management certifications – PMI-ACP, PMP and PRINCE2.

Dr. Jeffrey A. Singer

Dr. Jeffrey A. Singer is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute and works in the Department of Health Policy Studies. He is President Emeritus and founder of Valley Surgical Clinics Ltd., the largest and oldest group private surgical practice in Arizona, and has been in private practice as a general surgeon for more than 35 years. He is also a visiting fellow at the Goldwater Institute in Phoenix. Singer is a member of the Board of Scientific Advisors of the American Council on Science and Health. From 1994 to 2016, he was a regular contributor to Arizona Medicine, the journal of the Arizona Medical Association. He served on the Advisory Board Council of the Center for Political Thought and Leadership at Arizona State University from 2014 to 2018 and is an adjunct instructor in the Program on Political History and Leadership at ASU. He writes and speaks extensively on regional and national public policy, with a specific focus on the areas of health care policy and the harmful effects of drug prohibition. He received his BA from Brooklyn College (City University of New York) and his MD from New York Medical College. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Adam Bartha

Adam Bartha is the Director of EPICENTER, with the responsibility to enable the cooperation of the network and organise the private and public events programme in Brussels. He was previously European Outreach Manager at EPICENTER and a Koch Summer Fellow in the Publications Department of the Independent Institute in California. He also has experience in domestic party politics in Germany and Hungary. Adam has a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations from the University of Sheffield and an MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics. Adam is fluent in English, German and Hungarian.

Zaina Kombo

Zaina Kombo is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a passion for human rights and the role of law in development. She has over 6 years experience in working with communities and she holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and a Master of Law Governance & Democracy degree, both from the University of Nairobi (UoN)and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law (KSL). She has also gained different skills in Results Based Programme Management (SIDA), Inclusion, Non-discrimination & Internal Democracy in Organisations (LSU) and Public Expenditure Management (IPF-K).  Currently, Zaina Kombo is the Inequalities and Discrimination Campaign Manager at Amnesty International, Kenya.  Previously, she worked for HAKI Africa as the Head of its Nairobi Office where she was also the Coordinator of the Africa Security Sector Network convened by HAKI Africa and is meant to hold the African security sector accountable for the actions as well as protect and promote human rights and rule of law. Being a youth she also supports youth mentorship.

Lanre Peter Elufisan

Lanre Peter Elufisan is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Ominira Initiative for Economic Advancement, a Nigerian-based think tank with the mission to research and advance solutions to Africa’s socio-economic issues. Lanre received his first degree at the University of Agriculture Abeokuta, after which he trained as a Journalist at the Nigerian Broadcast Academy. Lanre hosts Africa This Month on OminiraTV, the media project of the Ominira Initiative. Prior to founding this organization, he volunteered as a Local Coordinator for Africa Students for Liberty and worked as a copywriter at a creative marketing agency. He holds a certificate in Multimedia storytelling and video production and has a deep interest in documentary filmmaking, and Africa’s socio-political and economic issues.

William Dvorak

William Dvorak is a passionate technologist and Google engineer. He has built hundreds of MVPs. Some have launched to thousands of users and others go on to raise millions in venture funds.

You would have to invest around 90 minutes per week for online sessions and training. In addition to face-to-face training that takes place once a semester and you should expect to be away from home for at least six days.

No, the Prometheus Fellowship Program is 100% free. 

Due to the generous donation made by the Prometheus Foundation to Students For Liberty, the selected leaders will have all their expenses related to the program covered or reimbursed. That means visas, meals, lodging, flight tickets, and more.
Furthermore, fellows receive a stipend of US $500 per semester.

The mentorship program will make even more sense to you. After going through the online and in-person programs, the mentorship you’ll receive will put you in a position 99% of young candidates applying for a job won’t ever be.

Yes, the program is run in English. However, if you believe you have the right skill set and mindset to apply to the program, do it. Sometimes your lack of confidence is just that: lack of confidence. (And believe me, it’s incredibly normal to feel that way).

Of course not. This is a professional development program. The Program covers educational, practical, and mentorship phases to enrich the experience and make you a better leader ready to go into the world.

At the moment, the Prometheus Fellowship is only open to SFL Coordinators. You can apply to become a Coordinator here.

Fellows must have access to, and are responsible for providing, a laptop, smartphone, or tablet with the ability to teleconference. Fellows must also have access to reliable internet to participate in the fortnightly online classes.

 

No, the fellowship is open to any SFL Coordinator, irrespective of age. However, most fellows will be in the 21-26-year-old bracket.

 

The fellowship is open to all promising talent within Students For Liberty’s worldwide network; there are no geographical limitations.

Yes, the fellowship program includes a mandatory twice-yearly seminar in the United States. Therefore, it is advised that all fellows have a valid passport for the duration of the fellowship.
