It is with grave concern that Students For Liberty observes the events that have been developing over the past few weeks in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The conflict, that over the years has resulted in hundreds of deaths, has disrupted the lives of many individuals and will leave disastrous consequences for years to come.
As a community founded on the principles that value human life and dignity, Students For Liberty strongly believes that only economic, social, and intellectual freedom for all people can foster peace and prosperity.
War only brings loss and misery. It devastates lives, disrupts economies, breaks apart families, halts progress, and endorses mass destruction. It is widely believed that in order to achieve a truly prosperous life, military action needs to be avoided at all costs. War is never the answer.
Numerous conflicts have been fought for reasons which are largely impossible to justify. We are deeply anguished to see the loss of dozens of innocent lives due to military assaults on civilians. We are grieving with the families who have lost their homes and loved ones. These families are faced with deep uncertainty and fear, and a growing distrust of their governments is inevitable.
Our community is committed to bringing about a world that is substantially freer than it is today. Thus, in such a world, there is no place for violence, war, and military action where missiles and banned weapons are loosely used against civilians.
That is why we are joining the call for a ceasefire, and to abolish the use of force that results in tragic civilian casualties, a total invasion on civilian livelihood, and the ultimate loss of individual liberty.
It is our dream, as advocates for peace, love, and liberty, to build a society where freedom and responsibility are united, and human life is cherished in all areas of life.
Please join our student leaders and advocates from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and all over the world in calling for an immediate ceasefire and resolution for all affected parties.
Sincerely and For Liberty,
The Students For Liberty community
