- When did you join Students For Liberty? What made you decide to join?
I officially joined Students For Liberty in 2014, even though I had been following the organization’s activities since July 2013 after being invited by Oluleke Peter from African Liberty, at the University of Ibadan chapter.
At a conference in July 2013, I noticed a gap in Africa I could fill perfectly within the organization. I became a media volunteer, since I have some expertise in this field. Having volunteered for about 13 years prior, I saw an opportunity to serve in a larger frontier and I went for it. Luckily, I was accepted into the family.
- What was your greatest accomplishment as an SFL leader?
I have many accomplishments but I will mention just three:
- Being the media ‘guy,’ I had the job of creating graphics for virtually all events in Africa and also seeing to it’s marketing. Seeing my handy work on different platforms, posted by different people of color and backgrounds is considered as an accomplishment.
- Starting as a Local Coordinator for SFL in 2014, and making sure I was diligent in my doings, I was able to ride to the highest level of volunteerism with SFL via serving as an Intern at the Programs Desk in Africa.
- Becoming a significant member of the planning team for the same conference that brought me in in 2013, the West Africa Regional Conference, up until the time I left SFL in 2020, and witnessing the growth over the years – that is surely one of the best accomplishments I can point to from my time at SFL.
- What would you tell someone who is considering getting involved with Students For Liberty?
Students For Liberty is a learning ground. It’s an organization you come into to discover your capabilities and capacity to be a leader and then move on to better the world. Come in with the aim of learning and building yourself.
- What do you want to do in the future to advance liberty?
After over two decades of volunteering with think tanks around the world, I have decided to go solo and spread the ideas of a freer Africa to the most distant parts of the continent using means of entertainment.
Leveraging on all I have learnt with SFL and the good people I have had the chance to work with, I believe we can forever free Africa and the world at large.
